In tribute to the Subaru Coloni F1 car, known as the Coloni C4, this was a short-lived collaboration between the Coloni F1 team and Subaru during the early 1990s. Debuting in the 1991 Formula 1 season, the C4 marked Subaru's brief venture into the pinnacle of motorsport. Powered by a Subaru flat-12 engine, the car was intended to give the small Italian team a competitive advantage. However, the C4 struggled with reliability and performance issues, often failing to run at its full potential.
The partnership was short-lived, as the Coloni team faced financial difficulties, prompting Subaru to withdraw their support after just one season.
While the Subaru Coloni F1 car never found success on the track, it remains a notable chapter in the history of both the Coloni team and Subaru’s motorsport ambitions. The C4’s time in F1 was brief, yet it highlighted the challenges faced by smaller teams in the highly competitive world of Formula 1 during that era.
